NVQ in Carry and Deliver Goods (Level 2)

Who is the course for?

This Level 2 qualification aimed at drivers of light vehicles, vans, motor cycles or pedal cycles, whose job role involves multi-drop deliveries, customer interaction and in some cases, dealing with financial transactions.

Course outline

A candidate for a full award requires all six mandatory units, plus one optional unit.

The additional two units do not form part of the qualification, but are available for candidates who have the opportunity to demonstrate competence in these areas.

Mandatory Units:

Candidates must achieve ALL of the following seven units for a full award:

  • CDG1 Contribute to effective working relationships 
  • CDG2 Maintaining the safety and the security of the load, self, and property
  • CDG3 Contribute to the provision of customer services 
  • CGD4 Complete pre-journey and post- journey procedures
  • CGD5 Planning the route and timings for the delivery and collection of loads 
  • CGD6 Transport goods and materials

Optional Units: (Choose one from two dependent on job role)

  • CDG7 Handling goods and materials
  • CDG8 Handling goods (Motorcycle and pedal cycle) 

Additional Units:

Certificates will be given for the additional units, as well as units where a full award is not achieved.

  • CDG9 Dealing with payment transactions
  • CDG10 Operate specialised plant and machinery to performance requirements. (Lifting and transferring)
  • CDG11 Lift, transfer and position loads

Course Objectives

  • To confirm the candidate’s competences and skills whilst driving a light vehicle, van, motor cycle or pedal cycle.
  • To confirm that the candidate has the underpinning knowledge with which to carry out his/her duties as the driver of a light vehicle, van, motor cycle or pedal cycle.

Delivery

The candidate will be required to demonstrate his/her competency when carrying out their duties as driver of a light vehicle, van, motor cycle or pedal cycle; this is done by a qualified NVQ assessor observing the candidate at work and also in one-to-one sessions when the candidate’s knowledge and understanding is similarly assessed.

An NVQ qualification usually takes between six to nine months to complete.
